The television show "Luck" was just canceled.  I do not think that was the real story.  Someone needs to ask why the animals died.   It is a sad state of affairs when three animals must die to shoot a TV show.   Is television really that important?   I think that if HBO was really sorry they would donate money to study ways that animals can be used in television while still preserving their quality of life.
